Driving Aptitude test

Introduction

The Driving Precision Aptitude Test is an aptitude test that aims to detect any defect by scientifically measuring individual personality, psychological, physiological and behavioral characteristics associated with TAP (traffic accident proneness). The purpose of the test is to prevent traffic accidents by detecting defects in the driver's aptitude and providing corrective measures and instructions.

Ground of Implementation

Mandatory Test: for commercial drivers

- Related laws: Article 26 of the Act of Passenger Vehicle Transportation Industry and Article 9 of the Act of Truck Transportation Industry
- Major contents: Drivers who engage in the transportation industry are required to meet the qualification requirements such as age and the driving career requirements and satisfy standards of the driving precision aptitude test.

Initial Test Persons are seeking to be employed as a commercial driver for the first time
Special Test Among the drivers employed as commercial drivers,
- anyone who has caused higher than severe injury
- anyone whose accumulated scores, which are calculated according to annual administrative measures, are higher than 81 points.
- anyone who is requested to take a test by his/her employer concerning about his/her driving safety.

Voluntary Test

- Subject: Workers whose main task is driving
- Requesting companies: school buses, public agencies (fire fighters, EX(Korea Express Corporation), KOGAS (Korea Gas Corporation), (POSCO and others), security companies (SECOM and others), probation (violators of traffic regulations), airport (ASS aviation), military agencies (drivers) and others

※ Conduct differentiated tests depending on the testee's weakness after classifying his/her driving inclination.

Procedure of test

Test Judgement

- Initial Test: Each test factor is judged to be either appropriate or inappropriate (Passed if all of test factors receive higher than 50 points.)
- Special Test: No judgement is made but after the test, every testee is required to attend a corrective training course.

Corrective Training

Corrective Training by Tester
- Subject: Testee who does not pass the initial test and the testees from the special test
- Training contents: Training to correct the defects found from the test
Corrective training by a transportation company
(Road safety manager or trainer from the transportation company. )

- Subject: All employees
- Training contents: Operate the corrective training connecting with a selected training course by defective items.

Initial Test: Mandatory test for commercial drivers

- Corrective Training: Training to correct the weaknesses discovered during the driving aptitude test

- Annually traffic accident costs of about 112 billion KRW decreases thanks to prevention of traffic accidents.
- From the results of internal study conducted by a transportation company (The Korean Express Co., Ltd), the result of which is an annual savings of over 5 billion KRW.
